HOW MUCH YOU NEED FOR THESE 8 ACTIVITIES IN SWAKOPMUND AND WALVIS BAY

It is without a doubt that whenever we think of travelling we initially think about how much a trip would be. A couple of weeks ago I visited Namibia and shared pictures that will inspire you to visit, here and my overall experience, here. Big question still stands! How much did I spend? I know,right. This post will address a bit of that.

There are many ways of getting to Swakopmund and Walvis Bay. For now we will only focus on the activities. These activities are worth adding to your itinerary. They will surely elevate your holiday to a memorable holiday of a lifetime.

Be aware though that the list isn’t exhaustive. Namibia has a wide array of activities to try out whether your interest is in wildlife, landscape, adventure, people or culture.

That being said, let’s get into the activities I got to experience and or have information about

1. DUNE 7 HIKE (WALVIS BAY)

The Namib Desert is known to house some of the largest sand dunes on this planet. Dune Hikes are predominantly done at Swakopmund and Walvis Bay, the two major centers in the tourist recreational area. One famous dune hike is the DUNE 7 CHALLENGE, at the apparent highest sand dune in the world. The 1,256-foot dune got its name because it is the seventh dune past the Tsauchab River, which runs through part of the Namib Desert.

2. QUAD BIKING (SWAKOPMUND)

Experience the thrill of quad biking through the Namibian sand dunes. This activity depends on how long you want to participate.

1 Hour Guided Tour for ± 20km= N$450

90mins Tour for ± 30km = N$550

2 Hour Tour for 38-55km guided tour (+/- 2 hours)= N$650

 3. SANDBOARDING (SWAKOPMUND)

1 hour sand boarding (Lie-Down only) + 2 hour quad biking tour = N$750

4. CAMEL RIDES (SWAKOPMUND)

A truly unique view of the Swakopmund Desert. Climb aboard one of the camels at Desert Explorers and immerse yourself in a nomadic desert experience.

THIS ACTIVITY IS N$250 PER PERSON FOR 30 MINS

5. BEACH WALKS (SWAKOPMUND)

Explore the Namibian coast by including beach walks in your itinerary. However be aware that cold currents with waters rich in sea life, do not make it a pleasant or safe swimming area as it regularly create heavy and cold coastal fog.

6. DOLPHIN & SEAL CRUISE (WALVIS BAY)

From meeting pelicans to viewing playful seals and, if luck permits, leaping dolphins and shy turtles – all this and more on daily morning educational dolphin and seal cruises.

Adult – N$ 870

Child (4 – 12 years) – N$ 480

7. SOUVENIERS (WALVIS BAY)

Were you even at a destination if you do not have souveniers? Treat yourself to some of the sculptures, accessories and apparel found in Walvis Bay Waterfront. They have a wide range of prices but you can be sure to get something with as little as N$30. More is required though to bargain better.

8. TOUR THE NATIONAL MARINE AQUARIUM OF NAMIBIA (SWAKOPMUND)

The National Marine Aquarium of Namibia is an aquarium in Swakopmund, Namibia. The Aquarium features fauna from the cold Benguela Current in the southern Atlantic Ocean.
